Last year, Trader Joe’s debuted an advent calendar just for dogs. This year, America’s favorite grocery store is doubling down on pet parents by introducing an advent calendar exclusively for cats.
Update: Call your local TJ’s for availability
Due to overwhelming demand, some stores are back-ordered for the cat advent calendar or may have received a smaller quantity than ordered. Trader Joe’s regulars are recommending calling your local store to find out if they are in stock and to reserve a calendar if quantities are limited.
Weird or wonderful? The adorable dog advent calendar featured salmon and smoked sweet potato treats last year and retailed for $6. TJ’s received so much positive feedback from dog lovers and product requests from cat lovers that they decided to try a cat calendar for Christmas 2019.
The cat advent calendar, which features treats made with salmon and seaweed, will be in stores this November.
“Last year we came out with the dog advent calendar, which seemed pretty odd until we got out in the stores and there was quite a following for it,” VP of merchandizing Colin Fields shared in a recent episode of the Inside Trader Joe’s podcast. “We heard from our feline-loving customers that we should have something for their cats. So we found it, we developed it, and it’s pretty cool.”
If you’re feeling left out, don’t worry, they still sell a traditional chocolate-filled advent calendar to treat your favorite humans with. And you know what that means? Treat yo self!
